My name is Aristida “Risti” Meyer and my passion for consulting was ignited while I was in High School with my very first job. I was born and raised here in Arizona. My family has been here in Arizona for 5 generations beginning in the early 1900s. I was born in 1979. I have lived in various sections of the valley during my life. During High School, I specialized in languages and due to that I was able to travel overseas many times. I attended Northern Arizona University and obtained my Teaching certificate. My first job was working at a very well known florist that specialized in Wedding flowers. For a year, and after visiting multiple weddings every week during that year, my knowledge of weddings and all that goes into them grew and flourished. All the different emotions from joy and disappointment, if things don’t go right, can all be experienced in that one very meaningful event. I hated seeing Bride’s, Mother of Bride’s, Groom’s, etc. upset or distracted simply by having the caterer late, or the cake in the wrong spot at the reception, or etc. Due to that I knew I wanted to help in anyway I can so that those emotions were never experienced on that day. My goal is to basically handle those “possible”, and I say “possible” moments because with good planning those moments won’t happen, but to handle those moments so that the Bride & Groom, the family, anyone attending will just experience the joy and happiness of the union. I was married in June of 2000. In preparation for my wedding I relied on all my experience that I gained while working at the florist. I can say that due to all my planning and organization, my wedding was perfect except for one thing. My soon to be husband was in charge of the DJ and about 30 min prior to the wedding the DJ came up to me and asked my for the music for the 1st dance. I didn’t have it because my soon to be husband was taking care of it. Needless to say, I went into a little panic mood and the emotions that rushed through my body were not positive. Luckily, I had my Maid of Honor help solve the issue. The music was found, which my soon to be husband had. The DJ just needed to find him but he chose to come to me. But that 5 minutes of panic was something that I knew, at that moment, I never wanted any Bride have to go through. This one single moment etched in my memory is the main driving force of BIG DAY CONSULTING. But I didn’t start right then there with Consulting, I was only 20. I knew I needed a little more time. So after getting married, I taught elementary school for 4 years until I had my first child. I wanted to spend more time with my child and choose to step away from teaching, which was something else I loved, and work as an Administrative Assistant for a Title Company. This was a major step for me because my natural organization skills, plus communication skills, were further developed even more. Due to the economic hardships of the housing industry, and shortly after having my second child, the opportunity to work there ended due to the company closing. So NOW…I take my Passion for Bride’s, for organizing and planning, and my communication to the next step and pull it all together with BIG DAY CONSULTING. Which build’s my passion and excitement even more because I get to full fill my dreams by way of helping Bride’s fulfill there perfect dream wedding.
